//I’ve been away for a week and that is completely unacceptable

My grandmother had a stroke and my best friend was going through a rough patch.

I’ve had great fun here and I’m going to miss you all - I’m deactivating Kat and Yaxley, as much as it pains me to do so.

Perhaps I’ll come back when the semester starts and I can settle into a routine.

Alexander & Kat || Three Broomsticks

    alexander-abott:

“Good.” Alexander said curtly. The buzz he had been nursing with the firewhiskey was beginning to fade, leaving him with a numbing feeling instead. Drumming his fingers on the table, he side glanced at Katrina, looking her over. He smiled back at her, unconsciously noting the ladylike way she sat, and how pretty her smile was.

“How have your classes been?” He asked, taking a sip from his drink. Remembering his own fifth year, Alexander’s smile turned into a grin. “Lots of partying, I suppose?” He chuckled softly, having a feeling that she wasn’t one to attend any parties. Taking another sip of the firewhiskey, he welcomed the familiar rush of alcohol, which burned it’s way down his throat.

“No,” Katrina said in a small voice. “I don’t really party.” But Alexander undoubtedly already knew that. “I’m much better with books than I am with people.” She’d meant it as a joke, but the moment the words tumbled from her lips she realized exactly how true it was.

That wasn’t to say that Kat had never partied. She wasn’t quite the innocent immaculate porcelain doll everyone seemed to think she was - an image she quite disliked. Kat just didn’t feel the need to advertise the on-goings of her personal life to the rest of the school. She took a sip of her butterbeer, enjoying the warmth of the frothy sweet drink, as well as the taste.

    Are you kidding me?

Good heavens, no. He is cute, though.

Alexander & Kat || Three Broomsticks

    alexander-abott:

Alexander didn’t know what had possessed him to owl Katrina, and offer her a drink. It was out of his nature, so he had resorted to what he knew best- alcohol. Before she had gotten there, he had already downed two or three glasses of firewhiskey, drinking as if he was a man who had been lost in the desert for a year. He felt a little light headed, and his arms and legs felt tingly, almost as if they had fallen asleep.

“Afternoon, Katrina.” The corners of his lips twitched up in a small smile. “You can sit, if you want.” Alexander motioned to the bartender, and mouthed the word ‘butterbeer’. Turning back to her, the tingling feeling in his arms and legs increased “So, how have you been?”

The scent of firewhiskey on his breath was unmistakable. It gave Katrina pause, but only for a moment. She didn’t really fancy the idea of trudging back through the snow after having just started to regain some of the color in her cheeks. Her fingers were beginning to lose that numb feeling.

The bartender placed a pewter mug in front of her, offering her a friendly smile. Katrina returned it in kind. There was no sense in letting it go to waste. That settled it. She settled into the chair next to Alexander and took a sip. The briefly wondered what sort of drunk Alexander was.

She was going to find out.

“I’ve been good,” she laughed, unable to suppress her smile. “How about you?”

Alexander & Kat || Three Broomsticks

Kat stepped inside the Three Broomsticks, shedding her scarf and overcoat while she surveyed the room, seeking out Alexander. She’d received his owl a little over an hour ago with an invitation to meet her here and she’d readily agreed.

Katrina smiled as she spied him in the corner of the room, sitting alone by one of the frosted windows. The bitter cold of winter was unable to penetrate the thick walls of the pub. It was an inviting atmosphere. Smoke tendrils, smelling vaguely of licorice, curled in the air from an elderly wizard smoking on a pipe.

“Good afternoon,” Katrina said, smiling brightly at her fellow Gryffindor.
